Smith & Co is a complex arrangement of retail, commercial and residential spaces on a large 6000m² site in the heart of the busy inner-Melbourne shopping strip of Collingwood. The historic site is home to the original G.J. Coles department store, and in its’ new guise accommodates a contemporary Coles supermarket. Numerous other retail spaces are also located at street level. Above these retail tenancies a series of landscaped courtyards each with their own identity (European Garden, Indigenous Garden and Edible Garden) are surrounded by varied scaled buildings housing over 230 residential apartments.
