Alexander Crescent

This coastal residence is located within the “old town” of Point Lonsdale which is characterised by timber clad homes set within the Tee Trees. Taking cues from the undulating site, the house presents as a contemporary sculpted form that wraps into the contours of the land. Although it is three levels high, the scale is concealed by gently carving the garage to a semi-concealed under-croft space. A sweeping curved timber blade screen brings fluidity to the form and creates textural relief whilst providing privacy to the bedrooms and living spaces beyond. The screen follows the site contours and filters natural light to all rooms and offering protection from the northern sun.

This curved form wraps around a central courtyard, embracing the open garden space. Large sliding glass panel doors allow spaces to be opened, offering a private and protected external entertaining area. The house is designed to transform from a simple weekend retreat for the owners and to easily accommodate their extended family.
