A residential retreat designed to maximize views over Swan Bay with respect to the environmental significance of the coastal environs.

The Ward Road residence enjoys uninterrupted views of Swan Bay and its uniquely Australian environment of moonah trees, mangroves, grasslands and wetlands.

The design of the dwelling is a contemporary response to the typical double-storied beach houses that were prevalent throughout the 1950’s in Victoria’s coastal towns. The simple rectangular form, the flat roof, the incorporation of decks and balconies are all interpreted in a modern form.

The siting and design of the residence maximizes the use of natural light and solar gain, and offers the occupants expansive views across Swan bay.

The extensive use of natural timbers is sympathetic to the coastal environment and over time has weathered to become one with the surrounding coastal vegetation.
